About the cover

Enforced disappearance aims to obliterate a person’s identity and, ultimately, his existence in the pages of history. So, a victim tries as much as possible to defeat this goal by leaving personal traces that tell the world, “I lived. I existed!” These traces could be anything left behind such as a shoe that slipped off his or her feet in the process of struggling against perpetrators. Simple belongings such as this becomes powerful proofs that aids many families and advocates in  heir long and hard fight for truth and justice in a dark society that tries its best to cover the truth with lies.
