Khurram Parvez granted bail

Khurram Parvez granted bail

A long-overdue breath of relief.

After more than four years behind bars without a single day of trial, our former Chairperson and tireless human rights defender Khurram Parvez has been granted bail by the Delhi High Court in the Lashkar-e-Taiba case.

We welcome this decision, but justice remains unfinished. Khurram still faces a second fabricated case and a web of charges built to silence him. We urge the courts to grant bail in the pending case and to drop all charges against him.

Khurram's years of arbitrary detention were never about him alone. They were a warning shot to every human rights defender who dares to document the truth. When a defender of human rights can be jailed for years without trial, the space for all of us to speak, investigate, and demand accountability shrinks. His freedom is a victory for that space, and the fight for it continues.
