Free At Last But Not Yet Free

Free At Last But Not Yet Free
But release on bail is not freedom, and it is not justice.
Khurram remains barred from returning home to Srinagar. Barred from speaking publicly. Still facing trumped-up terrorism charges under the UAPA.
The UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention declared his detention arbitrary and politically motivated as far back as 2023. Successive UN Secretary-General reports documented his persecution for what it truly is: reprisal for bringing the truth about enforced disappearances to the United Nations.
His only "crime" was standing with the disappeared. For three decades.
Together with human rights organizations across Asia, AFAD calls on the Government of India to:
✊ Drop all charges against Khurram and Irfan
✊ Lift the restrictive bail conditions
✊ End the persecution of human rights defenders
Truth is not a crime. Solidarity is not terrorism. And our search for the disappeared will not be silenced.
