Upon the invitation of AFAD, Shui Meng NG, wife of the disappeared Magsaysay Awardee, Mr. Sombath Somphone of Laos will visit the Philippines from July 16 - 24, 2014 to participate in two conferences hosted by AFAD.

Beyond attending the conferences, she is looking forward meet with concerned public officials, civil society and media organizations in the Philippines to discuss the case of Sombath and the Convention Against Disappearance.

As the Philippines is the first the country in Asia to have a law criminalizing enforced disappearance, she hopes that the country will be most sympathetic to her plight as a wife of a desaparecido.
