Enforced disappearance is when someone is taken away by the government, usually by security forces like the military or police. This act is followed by the denial or concealment of a person’s custody or whereabouts, in effect removing them from the protection of law and society.

All of these disappeared persons belong to families who are in pain, they will continue to search until their lost loved ones are found and brought home.

We believe that every case of disappearance is an attack against families, homes and societies where they exist.

Why Should We Bring Them Home?

The shocking truth about disappearance is that almost no one gets punished for it. And most often than not, desaparecidos are never found. Individuals and families suffer for years without justice or closure in sight.

This produces a climate of impunity that encourages further commitment of the crime. It could happen to anyone, it could happen to you or one of your family members.

The call to bring the disappeared home is a call for justice and humanity. We appeal to your sense of personhood, family, human dignity and human rights to join hands in this call. Victims of enforced disappearance must be brought home because someone, somewhere is waiting. Home is where they should be.

How to join the call?

  1. Get a clear sheet of paper and a marker

  2. Write #BringThemHome and a short message (e.g. No one deserves to disappear)

  3. Take a photo of yourself holding the paper (Can be done in a group too)

  4. Finally, upload your photo with the hashtag #BringThemHome

We will collect all the photos of support you’ve sent and share this in our social media accounts.

Spread the message, share this to your families and friends. Help families of desaparecidos campaign for justice.
